Student Voluntarism Award Policy (Revised March 2023)
The Richmond Village Association (RVA) will award one (1) $1000 award to a graduating grade 12 student who currently resides in Richmond, Ontario, regardless of where the high school is located. Students to be considered for the award will be nominated by their respective high school principal or teachers and the successful recipient will be selected from the list of students by a committee of 3 Directors of the Richmond Village Association.
The purpose of the award is to recognize a resident student who has demonstrated interest in the Richmond, Ontario community by providing a service to residents or organizations. The award is also intended to reduce financial barriers to the deserving student who plans to continue post-secondary education.
The criteria to be used for selection of students by their respective school officials and by the RVA selection committee are:
1. Residence: The student must reside in the Village of Richmond, Ontario during the graduating school year.
2. Community involvement: The student will have demonstrated a service as a volunteer to individuals or an organization in the Village of Richmond, Ontario at least during the graduating school year.
3. Post-Secondary application: The student has or clearly plans to apply to attend a post-secondary institution in the upcoming academic year.
4. Financial need: The student is known to be experiencing a degree of financial need.
The RVA will publicize the award through RVA website, social media platforms, local community newspapers and by contacting the three principle high schools (South Carlton High School, Sacred Heart High School and École secondaire catholique Paul-Demarais) by mid-March of the year the award will be given. Applications from the respective students’ high school will be due by May 15 and will include a letter from the school official nominating the student and detailing how they meet the selection criteria and a letter from the student stating why they should be given the award. The RVA selection committee will review the applications and select the successful candidate so that the recipient’s high school can be notified by May 31 and the award be presented at its graduation ceremony. The RVA will request that the recipient agree to the RVA publishing his/her name.
Politique relative aux bourses pour le bénévolat étudiant (révisée en mars 2023)
La Richmond Village Association (RVA) remettra un (1) prix de 1 000 $ à un étudiant diplômé de 12e année qui réside actuellement à Richmond, en Ontario, peu importe où se trouve l’école secondaire. Les étudiants à considérer pour le prix seront nommés par leur directeur ou leurs enseignants respectifs et le récipiendaire retenu sera sélectionné parmi la liste des étudiants par un comité de 3 directeurs de l’Association du village de Richmond.
Le but de ce prix est de reconnaître un étudiant résident qui a démontré de l’intérêt pour la communauté de Richmond, en Ontario, en fournissant un service aux résidents ou aux organisations. Le prix vise également à réduire les obstacles financiers pour l’étudiant méritant qui envisage de poursuivre ses études postsecondaires.
Les critères à utiliser pour la sélection des élèves par leurs responsables scolaires respectifs et par le comité de sélection RVA sont :
1. Résidence : L’étudiant doit résider dans le village de Richmond, en Ontario, pendant l’année scolaire de fin d’études.
2. Engagement communautaire : L’étudiant aura démontré un service en tant que bénévole auprès d’individus ou d’une organisation dans le village de Richmond, en Ontario, au moins au cours de l’année scolaire de fin d’études.
3. Candidature postsecondaire : L’étudiant a ou prévoit clairement de postuler pour fréquenter un établissement postsecondaire au cours de la prochaine année universitaire.
4. Besoin financier : L’étudiant est connu pour avoir un degré de besoin financier.
La RVA fera connaître le prix par le biais du site Web de la RVA, des plateformes de médias sociaux, des journaux communautaires locaux et en communiquant avec les trois principales écoles secondaires (South Carlton High School, Sacred Heart High School et École secondaire catholique Paul-Demarais) d’ici la mi-mars de l’année. le prix sera remis. Les candidatures de l’école secondaire des élèves respectifs seront dues au plus tard le 15 mai et comprendront une lettre du responsable de l’école nommant l’élève et détaillant comment il répond aux critères de sélection et une lettre de l’élève indiquant pourquoi il devrait recevoir le prix. Le comité de sélection RVA examinera les candidatures et sélectionnera le candidat retenu afin que l’école secondaire du récipiendaire puisse être informée d’ici le 31 mai et que le prix soit remis lors de sa cérémonie de remise des diplômes. La RVA demandera au destinataire d’accepter que la RVA publie son nom.
