Medical Clinic Welcomes Two New Doctors

The Richmond Medical Clinic is pleased to welcome two more doctors to the medical team, Dr. Anmar Salman and Dr. Dr. Cheryl Che.  Dr. Salman will join the Richmond Medical Clinic team on May 1st, 2017 and Dr. Che will start in August.

Dr. Anmar J. Salman MBChB, MPH, CCFP

Dr. Salman is originally from Iraq, where he worked as a primary care physician after completing his medical degree and training at Al-Nahrain University. In 2007, Dr. Salman received a Chevening Scholarship, through which he obtained his master’s degree in Epidemiology and Public Health from the University of Nottingham, UK.

Dr. Salman completed his Canadian Licentiate exams while working as a Senior Policy Advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. He further completed his training at the University of Saskatchewan and has been working as a Family Physician in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He is also a Clinical Lecturer the University of Saskatchewan and enjoys working with Family Medicine residents. Dr. Salman completed his Canadian College of Family Physicians certification in 2016.

He enjoys all aspects of general family practice. He has a special interest in communicable diseases, chronic disease management, public health, geriatrics, long-term care and performing minor procedures. He is passionate about developing a strong patient-doctor relationship. He is looking forward to setting up his practice and to working his colleagues at the Richmond Medical Clinic to deliver care in the Richmond community.

Dr. Salman lives in Barrhaven with his wife and two young children. In his spare time he enjoys outdoor photography, playing squash and learning how to play golf.

Dr. Cheryl Che

Dr. Cheryl Che is originally from Fort Erie, Ontario and completed her Honours degree in Health Sciences at McMaster University. She graduated from medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 2014 and then moved to Ottawa for residency. Since completing her Family Medicine residency training at the University of Ottawa in 2016, she has spent the past year completing a fellowship in Care of the Elderly.

Her interests in family medicine are broad and she hopes to provide comprehensive care to patients of all ages and stages of life. In addition, Dr. Che has a special interest in care of the senior population. She believes in optimizing the health, well-being and quality of life in the aging population and plans to provide in-office geriatric assessments and palliative care in her practice. Aside from office work, she also has an interest in working in long-term care facilities.

  1. We are new to the Ottawa area and live at 160 Granite Court in Kanata. David is 69 and Theresa is 67. We have both been retired for 8+ years. Given that we are seniors, we are excited that Dr Che has a special interest in the senior population and we look forward to meeting with her.
