Each year, the Richmond Village Association awards up to two (2) $500 awards for grade 12 (or graduating) students currently attending high school who reside within the Village of Richmond. These students may attend either South Carleton High School or Sacred Heart High School. The award recipient(s) will be selected by the Directors of the Richmond Village Association.
The purpose of this award is to reduce financial barriers to achieving success for students who plan to pursue their post-secondary studies at a community college, University or in a recognized apprenticeship or trades program.
Candidates are invited to apply directly to the RVA, with a 1-2 page essay or summary on how they meet the following criteria:
1) Community Involvement: The candidates have shown genuine interest in and respect for the Village of Richmond through a history of volunteerism or commitment to the village or through a major commitment in a shorter term project. The recipients must reside in Richmond.
2) College Applicant: The candidates have applied to and plan to attend a community college, University or trades program in the 2019-2020 academic year.
3) Financial Need: The candidates are experiencing a degree of financial need that may impact their success at their chosen institution.
The application process is by email, directly to [email protected]. Applications MUST include a minimum of one (1) letter of reference from a current year teacher or administrator at their school. Applications must be submitted by no later than 11:59 pm on June 1, 2019.
