About Our Services
The Richmond Food Bank was established in 1985, as a result of the economic stresses of the 1980’s.
Operating out of St. Paul’s United Church at 3452 McBean St, Richmond, we are a community run food bank funded by private donations to help families in Richmond and surrounding areas who require food assistance.
Our services are provided by appointment only. We operate year round, and offer food baskets for 4-5 days per month, including vouchers for fresh produce. Special diets can be accommodated and Christmas baskets are offered during the holiday season. Delivery is only available in special circumstances.
There are no restrictions on eligibility for those living within service boundaries of North Gower, Munster, Ashton, Fallowfield, and Richmond. To apply for food bank services, please leave a message on the answering machine. Food bank staff will return your call to make an appointment for your visit. There is no fee for this service.
Our local food bank is available for any local families or individuals in need of assistance. Donations can be delivered to St. Paul’s United Church (please call ahead …613-838-5397 ext. 3… to make arrangements), or for non-perishable food items, a drop-off site is available in our local grocery store, Kings Valu-mart, during normal business hours. For more information, please call 838-5397.
As a privately run local food bank we are not affiliated with Food Banks Canada. However, they have very good information regarding the statistics of food banks across the nation. We encourage you to read the HungerCount 2011 Report.
